Introduction to Watercolor Painting Class, 3-Hours
Watercolor artist Beth Bale will be teaching an introductory watercolor painting class at Pittsboro Gallery of Arts in Pittsboro, on Sunday, April 11, 2pm–5pm. This single-class event will provide students with the opportunity to try their hand at the basic techniques of watercolor painting, such as wet-into-wet painting, dry brush, mixing colors, and use of various brush types. Students will paint a small original painting of their own during class.
Paints, paper, palettes and brushes will be supplied. Students will be responsible for other supplies such as a water container, tape and pencil. (The supply list will be provided to students prior to class.) This class gives students an idea whether they enjoy the medium of watercolor and perhaps see if they wish to take the upcoming series of beginner classes.
Students need to register for the class at Pittsboro Gallery of Arts, 44-A Hillsboro Street, Pittsboro, NC 27312, or PGA at 919-704-8552. Class size is limited to 6 students, so register early to secure your space in the class. Masks are required during classes and tables are spaced for social distancing.

Intermediate Watercolor Painting, 6-class series
Beth also will lead 6 classes for intermediate watercolor painters, starting in April. These classes are for artists with experience in watercolor painting, who are comfortable with basic watercolor techniques and want to improve their skills and knowledge of watercolor painting. Beth will challenge students to expand their experiences with watercolor, to try new things, create good sketches, pay attention to issues such as composition, values and perspective as well as using multiple watercolor techniques in each painting. As always, Beth will demo in each class and guide students in using the techniques discussed to create paintings of their chosen topic/photo. Students may work on any subjects they wish, but each class will focus on a topic or topics and Beth will guide students wishing to work on this topic, but always provides individual help and guidance throughout class. Beth is a fun and encouraging teacher, who wants to bring out the most creative part of each student and help them gain confidence in their art.
Students will be provided with the materials list for the classes so they can come prepared for class and can work on paintings between classes. Class size is limited to 6 during this time and masks are required during classes, with 6-ft spacing of tables.
