The K-12 student art show has been part of the Chatham Artists Studio Tour since the Tour began in 1992. Over the years, student artwork has been shown at many different venues within Chatham County. The exhibition has grown to now include all twenty K-12 Chatham County schools and Chatham Charter School.
Chatham Artists Guild (CAG), together with Bryan DeCristofaro (Instructional Program Facilitator for the Arts for Chatham Schools), and Louise Hobbs (former art teacher and CAG member) make sure that young artists of all ages and backgrounds are recognized every year in this community exhibition.
This exhibition will be hung salon-style in the newly painted and lit hallways of Chatham Mills. Chatham Artists Guild supports this event showcasing the artwork from K-12 art programs across Chatham County.
The Chatham Artists Guild and Chatham Schools have worked with Greg Lewis, owner of Sycamore Restaurant, for the use of the Chatham Mills hallways for the student art show, and Forest Hall for the reception. The reception food and space is a donation of the Sycamore Restaurant.
Chatham Artists Guild provides educational outreach to the community through a variety of formats including: the student show, the Emerging Artists Program of high school students’ mentorships with Guild artists, children’s art activity tents at local events, and educational workshops. A major purpose of the Guild is to enrich and develop appreciation of the significance of the visual arts, and offer emerging and established artists support in the development of their skills.
