Calling all models! Have you wondered what it would be like to model for an artist? Here is your chance! Emily Anderson, an artist and arts educator in north Chatham County, has set a goal of painting 100 portraits from life in order to gain speed and accuracy in the genre. She expects this to take about 18 months, after which she hopes to find a location to display the portraits, inviting all of the models for a celebratory event. Her work in this series is documented on her Instagram account. She is currently booking appointments for sittings in her home studio.
Emily’s goal is to capture the model’s likeness, with particular attention to color and gestural brushwork, in a 4 hour sitting. Models have many choices – among them reading, working on a laptop or mobile device, watching tv or meditating during the session. Models have unanimously expressed their enjoyment in the process, finding it a relaxing break from hectic daily life and an interesting glimpse into the artistic process.
