My sculptural jewelry is inspired by my rural NC home heightened by technical challenges encountered creating it. I use sterling silver for metalsmithing; heat and pressure is applied (Keum-boo) to add 24-karat gold to some pieces. Texture and gemstones are important design elements. I bring the colors of light to my enamel jewelry using cloisonne` (wires) and champleve` (depressions) techniques. Each fine silver, lead free enamel piece is kiln-fired more than a dozen times. Another focus is on new ways to create jewelry that combines metalsmithing and enameling elements.
