I am primarily a landscape artist whose goal is to paint places that invite the viewer in. I want to paint places where others want to be. Biking, hiking, kayaking and walking through my neighborhood all provide inspiration. I believe plein air is also important as it causes me to slow down and truly experience where I find myself. I love light and dark contrast, sunlight and shadow, mystery and sparkle. Soft pastels are vibrant color and offer immediacy and luminosity to my paintings.
