My artwork is an organic blend of ceramics and nature. My primary inspirations are feminine forms which express the internal struggles we all carry in our hearts. My art is often intertwined with elements from the overwhelmingly rich nature that I’m surrounded by and have fallen in love with so deeply. Dry flowers, roots, feathers or even snake skins are the finds collected on my daily walks by the Jordan Lake. They become playful head dresses or ornaments on my sculptures that sometimes can be played with or changed with passing seasons. My organic process is not oriented towards perfection of technic but the opposite – inviting accidental imperfections and solutions which are unique to each piece and resonates with our ever- changing life which is never perfect. It is protest in sense , against how we’ve been thought to live and think. Living authentically is a way of life for me. Nature is deeply rooted in my Lithuanian heritage, so is clay – as all comes from the earth – creating with it becomes sacred process for me where I’m one with Earth.
