Mark Hewitt
Mark Hewitt makes exquisite, wheel thrown, primarily functional pottery in a wide range of shapes and sizes. Originally from “The Potteries” area in England, Mark set up his pottery studio in Pittsboro, NC in 1983. His mugs, plates, bowls, tumblers, teapots, pitchers, jars, slab dishes, planters and large platters are a delight to use and make every day more enjoyable. His elegant vases, from sweet bud vases to large table top vases are lovely with or without a bouquet of flowers.
Mark has traveled to five continents to study pottery making, and his work reflects the expanse of those influences. Mark is internationally known for his signature massive “Big Pots” ~ large garden planters, jars, life-size sentinels, and vases, that grace private homes, museums, public buildings, corporate offices, public and private gardens. The Big Pots have an inspiring and imposing presence. The pottery was once a family farm and is surrounded by pastures and a pond.
