While fine art is always my goal, I consider my portraiture to be my signature medium . I strive reach the tones of the blacks and whites, and I work to create a connection with my subject and when that happens it’s communicated to the viewer. I primarily work in black and white so most of my influences include Ansel Adams for his zone system, other greats like Imogen Cunningham, Dorothea Lange, Gordon Parks, Robert Freeman and Annie Leibovitz.
While I fully appreciate the way that Color brings the image to life, I am drawn to the way black and white captures the message that lies beneath the surface of color. I also love the challenge of lighting for black and white whatever the subject.
I offer private portrait sessions in my studio in North Chatham County. In our session we’ll work together to capture images that truly reflect the individual you are. My sessions range from personal or professional portraits, actor’s headshots, and artistic endeavors. Each session is unique and personal. I offer both digital and film sessions.

Why so much black and white and so little color? For me, black and white captures the message that lies beneath the surface of color. I do reach for color when the image demands it.Â
