I’ve been an artist all my life. Not in the conventional sense with a formal education in fine art. But my creativity has been the constant thread that weaves through the tapestry of my personal and professional pursuits. It is only now, with time shifted to a slower pace, that I can devote myself entirely to creating works of art.
The serenity of North Carolina is my inspiration – the quiet calm of green fields and bright blue skies, the breathtaking vistas of the mountains, and the rolling waves of the Atlantic. I try to mimic Mother Nature in my work by applying, removing, and re-applying paints, glazes and mediums that, like the ocean’s waves or the forest floor, create subtle changes and fresh nuances of patterns. My hope is that I am able to convey the intangible elements of wind, atmosphere, scent and movement and that viewers of my paintings will embrace, take a deep breath, and let the sense of calm settle over them too.
