I am a photographer with a focus on rural and urban landscapes. I also photograph building renovations from start to finish to preserve their history. At its best, landscape and architectural photography has the power to connect people with places, both visually and emotionally. I strive to build and enhance those connections in all of my work.
My journey in becoming a photographer began over a decade ago while I was looking for a creative outlet to balance a science-oriented career. I soon realized that I was most happy when outdoors, taking photos of all the places I traveled. When sharing my images to family and friends, their eyes would light up, and they would often tell me stories about their own experiences in the same places. There is nothing more satisfying than when someone looks at one of my photographs and says, “I’ve been there,” or “I wish I could go there,” or “that place is so beautiful.”
Throughout my career as a photographer, I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to teach others through workshops, presentations and classes. Helping to create new generations of photographers in this way enhances my own mission and helps me to find purpose through my photography.
