I am driven to make. I formally studied sculpture at UNC_CH and architecture at RISD. In the years since school I have had a continuous practice of drawing, painting, sculpting in various media and towards multifarious ends. My professional life as a custom carpenter is also tied to my artistic pursuits. I design everything I build, exploring possibilities with my clients through drawings and models.
I think of myself as a process in motion and when I visualize the topography of my creative process it is as a plane defined by these three points:
1 -Art, which is about concept and narrative, in essence ‘why.’
2-Design, which concerned with color, composition, texture, and purpose, approximating ‘what.’
&3-Craft, which is focused on technique, materials, and method, in short, ‘how.’
I blur traditional boundaries between media. my paintings are often sculptural. My sculptures have elements of painting.
I seek to create experience for the viewer, an engagement to encourage wonder, if only for a moment.
