Each year exciting new talent joins long-established Guild artists who have been carefully selected through a member-juried process to create a fresh, inviting, and extensive Open Studio Tour and Gallery exhibits with a breadth of choice to allow all visitors – all art lovers – to tailor their experience and selections to suit their needs and interests.

The CAG Emerging Artists Program works with promising visual arts students from high schools throughout Chatham County. It provides free workshops and practical experience in the business aspects of being a professional artist. Students are juried into the program and mentored by a professional Guild artist for the entire school year. We are extremely proud of these young artists and hope you’ll enjoy what you see.

Smelt Art Gallery Dec/Jan Exhibit
Celebrate local artists this Holiday Season at the Chatham Artists Guild’s All Members Exhibit
The exhibit features the work of 51 artists in a wide variety of media. See watercolors, silkscreen prints, photographs, acrylics, oils, glass mosaics, jewelry, pottery, ceramics, works in wood, leather, stone, and metal, and more. The event provides a wonderful opportunity to meet the artists and find unique items for holiday gifts or to decorate your home or office.
The All-Members Exhibit runs through January 2024.

Smelt Art Gallery is located at 213 Lorax Lane at The Plant, the Chatham Beverage District on the east side of Pittsboro. The business enclave hosts indoor and outdoor gatherings and events and provides spirits, ciders, meads, beer, a coffee roaster, food, clothing, NC-made products, and more. bmc brewing and the gallery are open Sun.: 12pm – 6pm, Mon. / Tue./ Wed.: 10am-8pm Thur./Fri: 10am-10pm, Sat.: 12pm-10pm.
2024 Chatham Artists Guild Studio Tour
The 2024 32nd Annual Chatham Artists Guild Studio Tour will take place Saturday, December 7th and 14th from 10:00 am-5:00 pm, and Sunday, December 8th and 15th from noon-5:00 pm
The annual Studio Tour is always the first two weekends of December. Take a relaxing drive through Chatham County’s rolling hills and pastoral farmlands to visit art studios located across the County. Meet the artists, learn about their process and artistic vision, and browse affordable original works of art. Paintings, prints, sculptures, pottery, photography, jewelry, glass, wood, leather, digital, and fabric art will be available for purchase.
