Chatham Artists Guild invited Chatham artists to display their work, meet other
artists, and learn about the benefits of joining the Chatham Artists
Guild.
Chatham Artists Guild celebrates Chatham Artists!
The Celebrate Chatham Artists exhibit at the Smelt Art Gallery showcases over fifty works of art – displaying the creativity of twenty-nine artists – thirteen CAG members and sixteen Chatham artists who may be interested in joining the Guild. We invite you, to join us for the opening reception Sunday, Sept. 8 from 1pm-3 pm. The show runs through Oct. 29th.
The heart and soul of Chatham Artists Guild (CAG) is our longstanding “Art for All” ethos; presenting great quality, affordable art to art lovers across Chatham County and beyond. Each year exciting new talented artists join long-established artists who have been carefully selected through a member-juried process to become part of our CAG community of professional artists. Joining the Chatham Artists Guild is an opportunity to receive promotional support and valuable resources, to participate in workshops for creative and professional development and advancement. As a Guild member, artists gain recognition and credibility, exhibit their art and help create a fresh, inviting and extensive Open Studio Tour with a breadth of choice to allow all visitors – all art lovers – to tailor their experience and selections to suit their needs and interests.
Acceptance in the September/October Smelt Exhibit does not equate to acceptance as a member of the Chatham Artist Guild. Our membership applications are available online at https://chathamartistsguild.org/product/new-member-application/ from September 1st through October 31st.
Smelt Art Gallery is located at 213 Lorax Lane at The Plant, the Chatham Beverage District on the east side of Pittsboro.
“Discover Smelt Art Gallery” – View Exhibit thru Aug. 27th. 2024
Discover the Smelt Art Gallery!
Looking for an alternative way to discover art? We love art galleries, but sometimes you just want to hang out. The Plant, a diverse 17-acre eco-industrial park on the east side of Pittsboro, North Carolina, is a perfect place to “grab a drink and a bite; let the kids rent a bike or scooter. Throw axes, check out the art gallery, or just write in your journal.”
Smelt Art Gallery is located inside the bmc brewing, a welcoming brewery where their beers are made on-site at the brewery and taproom with ultra-purified reverse osmosis water, which allows better batch-to-batch consistency. It is a hidden gem of a brewery. Make this your place to play cards or boxed games (several are available), listen to music, hold an event, or enjoy time with friends.
Come join us Sunday, July 7th, from 1-3 for our opening reception. Enjoy music by Michael Bartos. You will discover amazing art and talented artists. Chatham Artists Guild curates the gallery, presenting both 2D and 3D art from traditional to contemporary in a wide range of mediums, from fiber and ceramics to glass, metal, wood, mixed media, acrylic, watercolor, pastels, and photography.
Gallery trips are more memorable and fun when shared with friends and family. Our opening receptions offer opportunities to meet the artists and encourage discussion. You may notice details or techniques you might otherwise overlook, or you may learn the story behind a work you admire.
And did we mention – the Smelt Art Gallery is a great place to support our local artists? Art is purchased directly from the artist. The gallery does not require a fee to exhibit or take a commission on work sold.
Our current exhibit, on view through August 27th, 2024, features 3D artists Janet Place’s Glass Designs and Kristin Bergsten’s handwoven originals.
