Colleen’s roots extend from Winnipeg, Canada to Pittsboro, NC. She has woven a tapestry of her life’s work through the subtle interplay of various art forms. Her journey began with dance as a child, providing a rhythmic foundation. In the 1980’s in San Francisco, Colleen discovered her affinity for Japanese Raku.
Her creativity was enriched by the guidance of many mentors. Valerie Metcalfe, RCA, and expert in porcelain clay, introduced Colleen to a world of artistry in studio ceramics. The late Sally Prange of North Carolina, guided her through glaze development. And independent study program at UNC Chapel Hill Art Department with Korean Professor Nam enhanced her sculptural prowess. Most transformative was her time learning from ceramic master, Paul Soldner. Serving as “special assistant” in Claremont, Ca, and Aspen, Co, she assisted in teaching workshops across the USA.
She is a member of the Chatham Artist Guild, NC Pottery Center and the City Art Gallery in Greenville NC.
