Friday, Jan 9, 2026 – Gelatin Printing Basics Workshop 
Time/Location:  11:30 AM – 3:00 PM.  Jordan Matthews High School
CAG Artists:  Presenter, Gretchen Kapity, with CAG Host, Jane Eckenrode
Participants:  Jordan Matthews  HS Students only
Class Size:  Several classes, 40+ students total
Workshop Description: 
Gelatin printing is a fun medium that can incorporate a variety of techniques. The product can be used as stand-alone art or as paper for collage or backgrounds to paint on.


Saturday, Jan 17, 2026 – Working by Commissions Workshop
Time/Location:   1:00 – 3:00 PM. 79° West, 120 Mosaic Blvd., Suite 120, in Chatham Park, Pittsboro, NC.  CAG Artists:    Presenter, Susan Baker Cartledge, with CAG Host, Cally Curtis
Participation:   Open to CAG members and all visual artists in Chatham County
Class Size:  12
Workshop Description:
Working by commission is a great way to interact with your clients and get your name out to the larger public. However, as commissioning is not for everyone, we will talk about different aspects of this niche for selling your work and  whether you feel it’s a good fit for you. We’ll discuss how to advertise, set rates, educate your client, create a commission schedule, draw up a contract with your client, make up invoices, handle unrealistic requests, and more.  There’ll also be an opportunity to role-play using each other as artist/contractor so you can get an idea about how to discuss commissioning works with clients.  Sample contracts will be available as well as other resources for you to have for future use. (Registration has ended)


Saturday, February 7, 2026 – Watercolor Floral Postcards Workshop
Time/Location: 1:00 – 3:00 PM. Kathy Flood’s Studio, Chapel Hill, NC
CAG Artists: Presenter, Rachel Brown and CAG host, Kathy Flood
Participation: Open to CAG members and all Chatham County visual artists, teachers & high school students
Class Size: 8
Supplies: Bring watercolors & brushes; only postcard paper provided
Workshop Description:
A class for beginners in which we will “let go” and play with the unique properties of watercolor. Participants will leave the class with several loose watercolor floral postcards suitable for sending to friends and loved ones. (Registration has ended.)

Workshop Description:
If you have the desire to expand your work into showing in galleries, there are tools that can be useful. In this workshop, long-time professional artist Darcy Szeremi covers different aspects of how to prepare your presentation and the basics of what you need to include. Workshop Description:

Workshop Description:
Kristin Bergsten loves weaving and is an expert at her craft. In this presentation, she demonstrates how to make textiles on her portable floor loom in both plain weave and twill patterns. She’ll provide samples of her work for you to examine and discuss, resourceful handouts, and share great tips beginners should know before investing in supplies and equipment.
This workshop is part of our new Arts Skills Development Series, made possible in part by a Grassroots Grant from the Chatham Artists Guild and North Carolina Arts Council. Supplies: Bring a piece that didn’t work out and one you’re happy with
Workshop Description:
Sometimes you learn more from what didn’t work out than what did. In this workshop, Lee Kazanas will talk about his own failures and successes with glazes and help trouble-shoot why he thinks your pieces turned out the way they did. He’ll discuss different glaze techniques, the virtues of commercial glazes, answer questions, and provide informational handouts that can help you enjoy happier results in the kiln. Sunday, April 26, 2026 – Photographing 3-D Art

Supplies: Bring a 3-D piece (or photo of one), cellphone, and a camera if you wish
Workshop Description:
Photographing 3-D artwork presents challenges. How do you capture the dimensionality, surface quality, colors, and texture of an object? Join Amy and Greg Wandless in their studio to learn how they capture the unique aspects of their beautiful and functional pottery and woodworking, from setting up a piece to be photographed to some helpful tips on editing your photos. Find out how they developed their techniques – what’s worked for them in the past and what to look out for. You’ll have an opportunity to discuss photographing your own artwork; we will even set up a few pieces brought by participants to see how lighting and background enhances 3-D artwork! Workshop Description:
This presentation is for the soft pastel “curious,” whether you are brand new to the art or a seasoned artists in another medium. CAG Artist Jody Nash will demonstrate using a photo reference while explaining the steps and nuances of working with pastels. No experience necessary.
